Computer Simulations of Self-Assembled Monolayers on the Au(111) Surface
Florida, Department of Chemistry
Self-Assembled alkanethiol monolayers have various potential applications in todays industry. They have a stable and a well-defined structure which makes them potential candidates as bio-sensors and molecular electronic devices. In this seminar, computer simulations of azobenzene containing self-assembled monolayers on Au(111) surface have been described. Potential applications of metal/SAM/metal junctions and metal nano-cluster motion on these complex surfaces have also been shown.
