KINETIC PARAMETER ESTIMATION WITH POSITRON EMISSION TOMOGRAPHY

In this talk, I am going to focus on challenges associated with dynamic positron emission tomography (PET) imaging. In particular, kinetic parameter estimation techniques will be explained. Kinetic parameters are typically used for pharmacokinetic studies and physiological measurements. Therefore, reliability of the estimated parameters is very important. It is also important to understand the effects of noisy PET measurements and model inaccuracies on the accuracy and precision of the estimated kinetic parameters. In the talk, the existing studies and challenges in the analytical assessment of estimation reliability will be discussed.
Mustafa Kamasak received his BSc and MS degree from Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department of Bogazici University. In 2005, he received his PhD Degree from Electrical and Computer Engineering Deparment of Purdue University, Indiana. For a short period of time, he worked at Texas Instruments and Siemens Research. He is currently an assistant professor at Istanbul Technical University Computer Engineering Department.
