The 2nd Annual Triticeae Genome
Project Meeting (http://www.triticeaegenome.eu/index.php), funded by the
European Union 7th Framework Program for Research and Technological Development,
will take place at Sabancı University on April 12-14, 2010. Aiming to sequence
the wheat genome and to develop more productive genotypes, this 5.3 million
budget project started in June 2008 and will be completed in 4 years. From Sabancı University Assoc. Prof. Hikmet Budak and his team are involved
in the project. Fifty scientists and directors, including Kelly Eversole,
executive director of the International Wheat Genome Sequencing Consortium and
Peter Langridge, cheaf director of ACPFG (Australian Centre for Plant
Functional Genomics), from 14 universities and 3 private institutions located
in 9 different European countries will participate in the meeting.
Sabanci University will host the scientific project meeting.
