Our targeted research areas of MEMS, VLSI Systems, Photonics, R/F Microwave and Acoustics are very fertile for research worldwide, with a large amount of unsolved problems and a large potential for possible commercialization of the results. We envision the gradual development of a Microelectronics Center within SU that can both act as a center-of-excellence in the academic sense concerning these research areas, and also as a pre-incubation center for possible industrial development of new products.

Main objectives will include:

• 1. Assuming the leadership role in certain areas / technologies
• 2. Establishing and maintaining strong ties with the industry
• 3. Maintaining strong collaboration with international partners
• 4. Disseminating expertise / educating industrial partners
• 5. Encouraging the development of commercial products / applications
