Title: Rethinking of the Antenna-Circuit Boundary for Enabling Millimeter-Wave Full-Duplex Wireless Communication
Abstract: In the recent years, there has been a lot of interest in the use of millimeter-waves for next-generation ("5G") cellular communication networks because of wide available bandwidths at these frequencies. On the other hand, full-duplex (FD) is an another emergent technology, where the transmitter and the receiver operate simultaneously at the same frequency, thereby doubling the spectral efficiency immediately in the physical layer and offering many other benefits in the higher layers. In this talk we will discuss a FD transceiver which merges millimeter-wave with full-duplex, potentially offering dual benefits of wide bandwidths and improved spectral efficiency.
Bio: Tolga Dinc received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering from Sabanci University, Istanbul, Turkey, in 2010 and 2012, respectively. He is currently working toward the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering at Columbia University, New York, NY, USA. His current research interest focuses on the design of mm-Wave integrated circuits and systems in silicon for enabling next generation wireless applications. Tolga is the recipient of several honors and awards, including the IEEE MTT-S Graduate Fellowship in 2016, the IEEE RFIC Symposium Best Student Paper Award (1st Place) in 2015, the 2012 Gursel Sonmez Research Award and the IEEE MTT-S Undergraduate/Pre-Graduate Scholarship Award in 2010.
