VERIM - ENS491/2 Graduation Project Awards | Mühendislik ve Doğa Bilimleri Fakültesi

Sabancı University Center of Excellence in Data Analytics (VERIM/CEDA) is pleased to announce VERIM Graduation Project Awards,establishedto encourage participation and recognize the achievements of undergraduate researchers in data science problems.

The awards will be given to 3 best graduation projects at the end of each ENS492 offering (first one to be offered in Spring 2022). The selection process will be done by a committee that will be formed by the Executive Board of VERIM, considering the following rules and criteria:

The topic must be related to data science (e.g. acquiring, storing, processing, understanding and managing data) and the project performance must be demonstrated (preferably with large and/or real-life data).
The supervisor of the project should nominate the project for this award by May 31, 2022, through VERIM website (details will follow).
Finalists (up to 10 groups) will be selected by the committee, considering the project topic, the success of the project with respect to novelty and/or state-of-art and the outcomes of the project group (ENS491/2 final reports and presentations by the group members). Collaborative and interdisciplinary nature of the project topic/group are encouraged.
The announcement of the finalists will be done on June 10, 2022 and finalists will be expected to present/demonstrate their projects at a half-day demo event on June 15, 2022. The committee will select the winners from among the finalists also taking the demos into consideration. The awards will be presented at the end of the demo event.
Winners are expected to prepare a webpage describing their project and share their code/outputs as applicable, to be made public upon completion of their work.
A financial prize will be given to winners. 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes are 2,000, 1500 and 1,000 TL per group, respectively. The prize will be shared equally among eligible group members (a student must receive a letter grade of A or A- as the ENS492 course grade, to be eligible for the award).
