Epigenomic Landscape in Hematopoietic Disease and Development Seminar

Epigenetic modifications are thought to be important for specifying the lineage and developmental stage of cells within a multicellular organism. Postranslational modifications on the Histone tails and DNA Cytosine methylation constitute major source of the epigenetic information. Whole genome mapping of Histone tail modifications can be performed by combining chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP) with high-throughput sequencing technology (ChIP-Seq).  Here, we applied ChIP-Seq technology to get novel insights about hematopoietic development and disease. We acquired genome-wide chromatin state maps of major histone modifications in pluripotent embryonic stem cells (ESC), multipotent hematopoietic stem cells (HSC) and lineage committed B and T lymphocytes.  Our results reveal important findings about epigenomic landscape in hematopoietic disease and development.
