IMC SEMINAR: 3D-Printing of Composite Materials and Structures

    SEMINAR ANNOUNCEMENT :

Title               : 3D-printing of composite materials and structures: a review, trends and prospectives.

Speaker         : Dr.Fedor ANTONOV

Time               : August 07, 2018, 15:30-16:30

Place              : Teknopark- KTMM

Abstract:

The first part of the talk provides an overview of existing and prospective composite 3D-printing technologies, materials, equipemt and applications. Extursion, powder bed and lamination based technologies are addressed, discussing thier main advantages, disadvsntages and fields of application. The main focus of the talk is aimed at the continous fiber reinforced 3D-printing technologies. The main technological issues and different solutions for continous fiber printing are discussed, comparing several existing technologies and approaches.

The second part is focused on the design and optimization problems for continous fiber printing, discussing challanges of the latter and opportunities they provide. Lattice structures, topology optimization of an anisotropic media, fiber steering and reduction of stress concentrations, as well as some aspects of computer aided manufacturing are disscussed

In the last part of the talk, the current trends in indutrial 3D-priting technologies are addressed, concerning future applications in aerospace, automotive and other high-tech industries and the place of composite 3D-printing technologies in the future of additive manufacturing.
