Konuşmadan Alıntı: "P75 neurotrophin receptor (NTR) has been originally discovered as nerve growth factor (NGF) receptor. Following the description of other members of NGF family of neurotrophins (BDNF, NT3 and NT4/5), it is revealed that p75 is a pan NTR with the ability to signal in presence of any member of the family. Neurotrophin signalling through p75NTR and Trk family receptors (TrkA, TrkB and TrkC) have key roles in development, maintainance and survival of neurons. Recent scientific achievements indicate that neurotrophins and their receptors could have a broader role in human body than their name suggest. P75NTR is currently categorized as a member of tumor necrosis factor receptor (TNFR) family since it incorporates most of the structural features of this group, but there are no known TNF ligands interacting with it. TNF and TNFR family members play crutial roles in development, migration, activation, modulations of cytokine expression profile and apoptosis of immune cells. Our data indicate that p75NTR and BDNF is expressed in lymph follicles of human adenoids, mainly by follicular dendritic cells (FDC) and a subset of B-cells. Persistent follicular expression of p75NTR have also been observed in extranodal follicles of Hashimoto Thyroiditis (HT) and follicular B-cell lymphoma, suggesting a regulatory role during humoral immune response. Subsequently, detailled analysis of the immune phenotype of p75NTR knockout mouse revealed that p75NTR is a negative regulator of germinal center reaction."
