Virtual Production System Development

MS481 is concerned with the basic and important principles in virtual development of production sytems for a new product. The course will introduce the use of computer tools for modeling and development of virtual production systems. The course topics include new product selection and planning, market and customer requirements, conceptual and detailed design, manufacturing process and equipment selection, quality systems, production planning as well as financial aspects of product and production system development. There will be software based laboratory work where a production system modeling software DELMIA and QUEST will be introduced as an implementation environment of the material covered in the lectures. Students will carry out the projects in groups where a virtual model of the production system will be developed and animated.
