Drug Discovery Research by SU researchers awarded Tubitak 1003 grant
An interdisciplinary drug discovery research team from SU, Istanbul University, Koc University, Bogazici University, Acibadem University and DEVA Holding have been awarded a Tubitak 1003 grant for a project entitled: "Development of novel 2-indolinon compounds as anti-interleukin 1 and chemotherapeutic drugs". Faculty members Batu Erman and Murat Cokol and SUNUM researcher Emre Deniz will develop two novel compounds as potential candidates for chemotherapy for colon cancer. The project is interdisciplinary in nature, involving computer aided drug discovery, in vitro activity tests and in vivo xenograft experiments where human cancer cells injected into mice will be treated with various chemotherapy drugs.
