Information on "MS 480 Special Topics in MSE course" by Dr. Murat Kaya

This course aims to relate students’ existing theoretical knowledge on supply and demand chain management with realities of business practice. To this end, we will have presentations by and discussions with Unilever-Turkey managers within lectures. Topics include demand forecasting, inventory management, sales & operations planning, warehousing, distribution, procurement, production, sales channel management and retailing. For each area,

  • Students will be assigned preliminary questions that require web research.
  • At the beginning of each lecture, Dr. Kaya will lead a discussion on related theoretical /analytical background.
  • Unilever managers will present their related processes, explaining what they are doing and why. The emphasis will be on decision problems, information requirements, analytical approaches and software used.
  • Students are expected to understand the processes, pose questions, engage in discussions and come up with suggestions for improvement.

 

Course capacity is 30 and students need to take “special approval” from Dr. Kaya. Interested students should email Dr. Kaya or apply through the form in the following link by September 17th Monday 23:55. Please note that MS 401 is a prerequisite.
