This tutorial will present an introduction to general area of Natural Language Processing (NLP) and discuss the fundamental ideas of statistical NLP and their application in several fundamental tasks of NLP, such as tagging, transliteration, statistical machine translation, etc.  It will also concentrate on the general paradigm of sequence tagging which finds application is many of these tasks, along
with tools available.
