This tutorial will present an introduction to general area of Natural Language Processing (NLP) and discuss the fundamental ideas of statistical NLP and their application in several fundamental tasks of NLP, such as tagging, transliteration, statistical machine translation, etc.  It will also concentrate on the general paradigm of sequence tagging which finds application is many of these tasks, along

with tools available.

This tutorial will present aspects of Turkish that bring interesting challenges for natural language processing (NLP) and will present an overview of the work done on Turkish NLP over the last two decadesfollowed by an overview of the resources and tools available.
