Abstract: 

Manufacturing and Automation Research Center (MARC) at Koc University is dedicated to the conduction of advance multidisciplinary scientific research and education in the fields of Advanced Manufacturing, Mechatronics and Medical systems. In this seminar, recent research activities in the MARC will be introduced briefly and some of the new high value added products will be demonstrated.

Biograph: 

Ismail Lazoglu is the Professor of Mechanical Engineering Department at Koc University in Istanbul, Turkey.

Prof. Lazoglu received his B.Sc. degree from Istanbul Technical University in 1989, M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from Georgia Institute of Technology, in 1992 and 1997, respectively. He worked as post-doctoral research fellows at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and at the University of British Columbia for about 3.5 years.

He is the founder and the director of the Manufacturing and Automation Research Center at Koc University. His research group is working very closely with industry. The multi-disciplinary research activities in the MARC are in the fields of Advanced Manufacturing, Mechatronics and Medical Systems. 

He has over 100 publications in the international journals, conferences and books. He is the recipient of several research awards such as The Werner von Siemens Excellence Award for Science and Innovation Award, TÜBİTAK Young Investigator Award, Machine Tool Technologies Research Foundation Award, Koc University College of Engineering Outstanding Faculty Award in 2014, The Best Academic Patent Award from the International Federation of Inventor Association and Gold Medal from the World Intellectual Property Organization in 2016.

Prof. Lazoglu is the member of the International Academy for Production Engineering (CIRP). He is the founder member of the Association of Turkish Artificial Organs and Support System, is also a member of the European Society of Artificial Organs.
