Abstract: This seminar will cover the story of a local IC Design House in Türkiye, ElectraIC. Founded in 2014 with only 2 engineers in an incubation centre, ElectraIC has grown from 2 people to 25 people and is now present in 2 cities in Türkiye. Still continues to grow. You will be able to listen from the leaders of ElectraIC, the story of becoming a sustainable company and its vision to be a main player globally.
Ates Berna
Ates Berna is Co-founder and Managing Partner of ElectraIC, established in 2014. Ates received his BSc and MSc in Electronics and Communications Engineering from Istanbul Technical University and his MBA from Bosphorus University. During his 20+ years career in semiconductor sector he has worked in multi-site, multi-culture high technology R&D projects in various multi-national companies like Alcatel, STMicroelectronics, ST-Ericsson, Ericsson. He has led many digital ASIC/FPGA projects in the past and currently continuing this project leading role in ElectraIC projects. He is holding a Project Management Professional (PMP) certificate from PMI. Ates specialises in ASIC/FPGA digital design and verification, DO-254 process deployment, project management.
Melike Atay Karabalkan
Melike Atay Karabalkan received her BSc in Electronics and Communications Engineering from Yıldız Technical University and received her MSc in Electronics and Communications Engineering from Istanbul Technical University. Her research interests during graduate was image processing and digital design. She is currently working as Engineering Manager in ElectraIC. She is involved in digital design, modelling and advanced verification areas of multi-site, multi-culture high technology R&D projects. She has developed many digital signal processing designs using VHDL and Verilog. Also, she has developed MATLAB models of these designs and TCL scripts for automatized verification. Prior to joining ElectraIC Melike worked for Koc Information and Defense Technologies for 2 years. Her main role was to develop an IP Core Library using VHDL for Sonar Signal Processing applications. Prior to Koc Information and Defense Technologies, she worked as a researcher at TUBITAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey) for 4 years where she designed Elint and Comint Sytems using VHDL as well as C++ and MATLAB. She participated in several conferences on signal processing and digital design. So far, she has 8 scientific publications at various conferences as a result of her researches.
