Hydrogen energy is an important element in the push towards the deep decarbonisation of the energy system. Hydrogen technologies have been at the center of discussions about the future of energy in recent years. Huge investments are planned in hydrogen technologies for purposes to reduce carbon emissions, energy security, and flexibility in energy supply chains. Hydrogen has great potential to replace fossil fuels for industrial and domestic applications, as well as being used in industrial processes and as a sustainable fuel.

The progress of advancements in chip technology faces limitations imposed by the conventional fabrication methods of semiconducting materials employed in transistors. This obstacle to the progression of Moore's Law (stating that the number of transistors in an integrated circuit doubles about every two years) has been a long-term concern, prompting scientists to explore and develop alternative approaches in order to achieve the desired continuous improvement in chip technologies.
